New Paradigm Projects looks at exterior doors when sealing, security, operation or appearance are part of the property’s protection — not as interior millwork.
Replacement is considered when the slab, frame or threshold cannot honestly be made weathertight. Some doors need adjustment or hardware. Inspection decides.
What we consider on an exterior door
Security and operation
A door that must be lifted to latch, or hardware that no longer draws the weatherstrip, is both a comfort and a security issue.
Drafts and comfort
The entry is a common leak path for conditioned air. We describe the condition; we do not quote efficiency percentages.
Water resistance
Swelling after storms, rust at the sill or stained interior casing means water is using the opening.
Deterioration
Delaminating skins, rot at the jamb and failed finish are replacement conversations when repair will not last.
Appearance
The door is the first impression. Appearance is discussed with function — not instead of it.
